Nigerian Governor Declared a Public Holiday and Explained the Reason

Akure, Ondo state – The Ondo state government, led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared Friday, November 15, as a public holiday for public servants in the state.

The purpose of the public holiday is to ensure the full participation of citizens in the governorship elections planned to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

According to the New Telegraph, the holiday will help eligible citizens have the opportunity to travel to polling stations without having to work.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Service, Femi Ayodele, disclosed this in a statement released on Wednesday, November 13.

Ayodele ordered the Accounting Officers to distribute the contents of the circular to the employees of the relevant Ministry, Department and Institution.

The state government said the holiday would facilitate the movement of voters across the 18 local government areas of the southwestern state.

This step is part of efforts to promote broad voter turnout and a smooth election process.
