Male student summoned by MCMC for porn he prepared

PETALING JAYA: A male student from a public higher education institution was under suspicion of selling sexually explicit videos of himself for RM150 on X platform, formerly known as Twitter, earning up to RM3,000 a month.

Sinar Harian reported that investigations by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) showed that the suspect’s activities began in 2021 with the re-upload of existing obscene content shared by other users on the same platform.

According to MCMC, the suspect’s modus operandi then evolved into uploading and selling explicit videos of himself with women he knew, amassing more than 100,000 followers on the platform.

“The suspect turned the sale of sexually explicit videos into a source of income, reaching RM3,000 in monthly revenue at an estimated price of RM150 per video,” MCMC said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 14). he said.

MCMC said the suspect was recently summoned to record his statement.

“Following inspection at a facility in Shah Alam, the MCMC enforcement team seized a mobile phone and SIM card believed to belong to the suspect and used to upload content as part of the investigation.

The commission said, “A statement was also taken from the suspect’s friend, who is also a student at a private higher education institution.”

MCMC reminded that the act of selling obscene videos is an offense under Section 233(2) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (AKM 1998).

“If found guilty, the suspect faces a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment of up to one year, or both,” the statement said.
