Sydney Sweeney Calls Out Hollywood’s ‘Fake’ Women’s Empowerment Narrative: ‘It’s All a Front’

Sydney Sweeney speaks out about the true nature of self-proclaimed female empowerment figures in Hollywood. In a new interview, the Immaculate actor said that while he stands up for women in showbiz, there are people who privately facilitate their downfall. Among many eye-popping claims, Sweeney suggested that it was mostly women in Tinsel Town who pulled their female friends down.

“It’s very disheartening to see women degrading other women,” Sweeney said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. “Especially when women who are successful in other areas of their industry see young talent working really hard, hopeful to achieve their dreams, and then try to belittle and discredit every job they do.”

Although the 27-year-old did not name names, his comments appeared to be aimed at Carol Baum, a renowned producer and professor at USC.

Earlier this year, Baum expressed confusion about the hype surrounding Sweeney, saying at an event that Sweeney “isn’t pretty” and “can’t act.” According to The Daily Mail, Baum watched Sweeney’s new movie Any But You to better understand why Sweeney was a hot topic of discussion in pop culture, but said he was even more confused by the noise when the end credits rolled. he.

Baum reportedly explained the next day that he asked his class to help him understand Sweeney’s exaggeration, but neither of his students received an answer. But one of them had a clever claim. One of his students apparently asked Baum if he would work with Sweeney if it could guarantee getting a project off the ground.

Admitting that there is no simple answer to the question, Baum said, “Who doesn’t want their movies to be greenlit?”

Sweeney said in the aforementioned interview, seemingly directing her remarks at Baum: “All the people say this whole industry is ‘Women empowering other women.’ None of it happens. “It’s all fake and a front for all the other nonsense they say behind everyone’s back.”

Trying to offer her perspective on why women feel the need to undermine other women, Sweeney said she believes it stems from generational conditioning where women are taught that there can only be one woman at the top. According to the Euphoria actress, this is what forces women to compete with other women instead of elevating themselves and their female peers simultaneously.

Sweeney remains booked and busy on the work front with multiple projects in the bag, including the Christy Martin biopic, which she filmed last month.
