Truck driver who sexually abused a male passenger is in the courthouse

Two men from Bulawayo, Richard Ncube, 48, and Alex Moyo, 22, appeared in a Harare court on charges of aggravated indecent assault following accusations that they sexually assaulted a male passenger they offered a ride to. It was reported that the incident occurred on the night of November 10, 2024.

According to the prosecution, the complainant boarded a Top Channel Transport transport truck at Halfway, Chegutu, with the intention of traveling to Chitungwiza via Harare. Ncube was driving the truck and Moyo accompanied him as his assistant.

The court heard that when Ncube arrived in Harare at around 1am on November 11, he parked the truck at Zim Meal Company in Falls, where the complainant decided to wait until the morning. While Ncube was napping, he allegedly took off his clothes and attempted to touch the complainant inappropriately, prompting her to ask Ncube to stop.

Moyo then allegedly threatened the complainant with a gun-like object and instructed her to comply with Ncube’s advances. It was reported that the complainant complied with the demands under pressure. After the incident, he spent the night in the truck because he did not know the area.

The next morning the complainant went to ZRP Mbare to report the incident, which led to the arrest of Ncube and Moyo. Both men were remanded in custody by Magistrate Ms. Marehwanazvo Gofa for a bail hearing on November 19, 2024.
