If BNP is elected, it will empower the people: Tarique Rahman

BNP Deputy Chairman Tarique Rahman said on Thursday that if BNP comes to power, it will ensure people’s empowerment and partnership in politics.

“During Sheikh Hasina’s fascist regime, we saw the so-called development politics based on corruption, mismanagement and criminalization,” he said.

“On the other hand, if BNP forms the government with the instructions of the people, you will witness the politics of empowerment and partnership of the people in the light of our 31 points. “Our state administration will focus on the rule of law, human rights and freedom of expression,” the BNP deputy chairman said.

Tarique Rahman was the chief guest of a hotel in Dhaka while speaking virtually at a discussion titled “Outline of reform of state structure: Reforms in the light of 31 points” under the chairmanship of BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The BNP deputy chairman said: “We all want to build a country where fascism or dictatorship will never raise its head again. We all want an independent and sovereign Bangladesh where no one can take away our rights and freedoms. “We all want a safe and secure Bangladesh where people’s aspirations will be reflected and an elected and accountable government will ensure people’s ownership and partnership.”

BNP stated that it wants to make sure that in the future, no one in Bangladesh, even the Prime Minister, can abuse his powers by acting arbitrarily, and from the highest level of the state to all levels of government, it must be ensured that no one is above responsibility and the law.

The event was attended by leaders of different democratic political parties, BNP leaders including National Standing Committee members, diplomats, civil society members and members of the media.
