Cantonal judge rejects Primal Life Organics’ lawsuit against Society Brands

CANTON, Ohio – CANTON, Ohio – A Stark County judge dismissed a fraud lawsuit filed by the former owner of Primal Life Organics against a Canton-based e-commerce company that bought it.

Trina Felber of Fairlawn built the online store for skin and dental products made only with safe, organic ingredients for more than 12 years before selling to Society Brands. He was then “kicked out” by Society Brands, in violation of the sales agreement, according to the lawsuit.

Society Brands is what is often referred to as an e-commerce aggregator. Michael Sirpilla, CEO of Society Brands, once described it as “the modern-day Procter and Gamble of e-commerce.” Society Brands raised $204 million in venture capital in March 2022 and has raised millions more since then.

Felber, Who filed the lawsuit earlier this year?He said Society Brands had promised to run the company as part of the deal, while Society Brands would help it grow with the help of Society Brands experts and a “technology-enabled platform”.

Stark County Common Pleas Judge Frank G. Forchione dismissed the case Wednesday.

Forchione’s decision stated that the plaintiffs “were not deceived into anything and the circumstances were clear.” They received generous compensation. While plaintiffs are currently dissatisfied with the outcome of the business transaction, (this) does not necessarily render the transaction fraudulent or create a meritorious cause.”
