North Carolina DMV halts operations due to computer problems

If you have business with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles on Thursday, you may need to reschedule.

NCDMV said Thursday that the computer connectivity issue affected operations at all 112 driver’s license offices in the state.

The problem also affects self-service kiosks, license plate agencies and online services.

According to NCDMV, they started having trouble connecting to the host computer within the last 24 hours. It is caused by problems with the mainframe of the North Carolina Information Technology department.

The department says it is working to restore service as quickly as possible.
