Tragic Accident Claimed the Life of Roberto Curletto in Cervia

76-year-old Roberto Curletto died in Bufalini Hospital in Cesena as a result of an accident that occurred while walking with his wife in Cervia, Ravenna province, on Tuesday, November 12. Originally from the province of Como but a long-time resident of Varese, he was known in Como and Varese not only for his profession, but also for his passion for running and his commitment to social causes, especially in the Famiglia Comasca cultural association. Despite his advanced age, he continued to run and stand out in marathons. He and his wife had gone to Cervia to rest for a few days and were walking on a road reserved for pedestrians and cyclists when the tragedy occurred. He was in Romagna for a short holiday on Friday, November 8th. He was hit by a car while walking on the pedestrian and cycle path of Via Oriani in the center of Cervia. According to eyewitnesses, Curletto managed to save his wife before she was hit by hitting him and flying 30 meters away. According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when Curletto noticed a Volkswagen zigzagging towards them. Realizing the danger, the 76-year-old man immediately moved to protect his wife from the collision, but he was also hit. While the woman suffered minor injuries, Curletto was rushed to hospital in Cesena, where he remained in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit and died after four days in hospital. In order to elucidate the dynamics of the accident, the prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into vehicular homicide by launching an investigation against the 74-year-old Forlì driver of the vehicle.
