TSA and DMV recommend people get Real ID cards to board flights

The deadline to obtain a new ID to board domestic flights is fast approaching.

New York residents will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license by May 2025.

If they do not have ID, they will need another approved ID document, such as a passport.

REAL ID driver’s licenses and identification are distinguished by the presence of a small star in the upper right corner to indicate that they meet federal minimum security standards.
