Google app introduces Notifications tab on Android

The Google (Search) app on Android now has a Notifications tab in the bottom bar.

This was a long time when Google was initially on a quest. bell icon next to your profile picture in the upper right corner. This design entered beta testing in October 2023. earlier this yearA “Notifications” tab was added to some Google app beta users, which was later rolled out to the existing product channel.

As of today, we commonly see Notifications joining Home, Search, and Saved in the bottom bar. (Unread alerts can be marked by the number.) Meanwhile, devices with a bell icon in the corner have been moved to the tab design. This should be the final design for Android, as the Google app on iOS has had this design for a long time.

The feed shows alerts sent by Google that appear as app notifications. Google encourages you to “Follow topics as you search to get updates on the things you care about.” It’s arranged in reverse chronological order, with “Today” or “New to You” appearing at the top, followed by “Previously.”

Also includes current temperature, tomorrow’s weather forecast, sports scores (including “Match starts soon”), quotes of the day, current TV shows/movies, and more. Each one includes when it was posted, and with a single tap you’ll be taken to the Search results page. The overflow menu allows you to “Delete” and dismiss such notifications.

This is a server-side update that we saw with the Google app 15.44+.
