Seven people died in Russia’s overnight attack on Ukraine

Russian missile strikes on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro last night killed five people, including a child, while a teenager and another person died in attacks on Kiev and the surrounding region, officials said on Saturday.

The strike came less than 48 hours after Russia finished hosting a three-day summit of the BRICS group of emerging economies in the city of Kazan, where President Vladimir Putin faces calls from world leaders to end the conflict.

“After everything that was said in Kazan, the Russian killers went back to business as usual,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday. he said.

“This proves once again that aggression cannot be stopped by talking, but only by decisive actions in defense of the state,” he added.

Five people were killed and several buildings, including a hospital, damaged in attacks on Dnipro late Friday, authorities said.

Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Sergiy Lysak said in a statement on Telegram that more than a dozen people, including children, were injured in the city.

In the images shared by the governor, rescue teams were working on a pile of rubble, while another showed a hospital room with its windows blown out.

Separate overnight attacks on the capital Kiev and the surrounding region left two people dead, including a teenage girl killed in a drone strike on an apartment building, according to regional authorities.

Ukrainian cities, including Kiev, were subjected to deadly drone and missile attacks throughout Russia’s occupation.

Moscow is stepping up attacks on energy infrastructure, while Kiev is demanding more air defense from its allies during what is expected to be its toughest winter ever.

The Russian military said on Saturday it had captured the front-line village of Oleksandropol in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, where it has made a series of advances in recent months.
