Farmington Hills workplace shooting victim ‘recovering’, preliminary exam prep for alleged shooter – The Oakland Press

A preliminary exam is scheduled for a man charged with a felony for a workplace shooting in Farmington Hills last month.

Da Shawn Marquese Taylor, 21, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for the Oct. 15 shooting in the parking lot of Specialty Steel Treating Inc. The business is located on Eight Mile Road near Orchard Lake Road.

The victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital in critical condition but is “recovering,” Police Chief Jeff King told The Oakland Press on Nov. 14.

Police said Taylor called 911 to report the incident.

According to King, the case stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victim and Taylor, a co-worker at work. “Two men who did not get along escalated into a physical attack and then a shooting,” King said.

Taylor’s preliminary exam is scheduled for Dec. 4 in the 47th District Court. Here, evidence will be presented to Judge James Brady and it will be determined whether there is probable cause to transfer the case to Oakland County Circuit Court for probable hearing. Taylor is out of custody on a $10,000 personal bond, which requires no cash or surety.

Taylor faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
