GeorgetownCo. Accused of threatening 13-year-old student

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – A Lowcountry Preparatory School student is facing charges in connection with threats that deputies say were made on social media.

The 13-year-old boy is accused of threatening students after the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office found “open-ended threats against students” on a social media platform.

Deputies attempted to contact the family and student at his home Thursday night but were unsuccessful. They were at school with the boy on Friday morning when his father arrived and stopped for questioning.

A search of the child’s home did not reveal the presence of any weapon. After the accusations, the young man was handed over to his family. He will also face discipline in accordance with school policy.

Deputies say the school was not disrupted by this incident.
