Somerville man jailed after attempted burglary

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) – A Somerville man was arrested for allegedly trying to steal items from one car and damaging another.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to an attempted break-in at a home on New Cut Road in the Massey area on Sunday.

After receiving the report, deputies canvassed the area and were flagged down by two people on Highway 55 for another person lying on the ground.

While deputies were dealing with the man, identified as 29-year-old Dylan Peck, they say he admitted to using drugs and trying to steal items from a vehicle. Deputies said Peck also admitted to damaging another vehicle.

After Peck was medically cleared, he was sent to the Morgan County Jail and charged with theft. Additional charges are possible.

His bond is $2,500.
