Morgan County man charged with burglary after trying to break into vehicle

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHEN) — A Morgan County man was arrested Sunday after trying to break into a vehicle.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), deputies were called to a home on New Cut Road in the Massey area because someone was trying to break into a vehicle.

Deputies, who started patrolling the area after receiving the notice, were flagged down by two people regarding a person lying on the ground on Highway 55.

While assisting the individual, he admitted using drugs, attempting to steal items from the back of one of the vehicles, and damaging another vehicle on the property.

MCSO said the man, identified as 29-year-old Dylan Chase Peck of Somerville, was arrested and charged with burglary (breaking and entering of an automobile).

After Peck was cleared by medical personnel, he was transported to the Morgan County Jail and given a $2,500 bond.

MCSO added that additional charges are possible.

Lawmakers are reminding individuals to take valuables and lock their vehicles as the holiday season approaches.
