Vehicle theft suspect arrested in Santa Rosa

Police said the stolen property was hidden at two homes in Sebastopol. Investigators are looking for owners.

A Santa Rosa man is suspected in a string of vehicle thefts that led to the discovery of 13 guns and ammunition, police said Friday.

Police and court records show Shan Titman, 46, was arrested Thursday and later charged with theft, receiving stolen property and multiple prohibited firearms possession charges.

He is scheduled to appear in Sonoma County Superior Court on Monday.

Sebastopol resident Daniel Tucker, 46, was also arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of a short-barreled shotgun and firearm, according to Santa Rosa police.

Investigators began tracking Titman after he was identified as a suspect in a pair of vehicle burglaries last month, police said.

The investigation led them to two homes in the 5000 block of Lupine Lane, west of Rohnert Park, where authorities suspected stolen property was being held.

After obtaining search warrants, police stopped Titman Thursday morning near Santa Rosa Boulevard and Mountain View Drive.

The defendant is accused of possessing methamphetamine, 12 handguns and a short-barreled assault rifle in his trunk, police said. None of the weapons were registered to the suspect, who had a previous criminal record and was prohibited from possessing weapons.

Investigators searched both homes and found property related to the three Santa Rosa robberies, as well as a short-barreled shotgun.

The shotgun belonged to Tucker, who is prohibited from possessing a gun due to prior convictions, according to police.

Authorities are trying to identify the owners of the stolen goods.
