Thief died during theft, 2 people were arrested

KLUANG: A theft at Jalan Laksamana in Sunrise Park here turned deadly on Friday evening (November 15) when a suspect was found dead at the scene.

Kluang OCPD Supervisor Nik Mohd Azmi Husin said police have since arrested two people, while another suspect remains at large.

He added that the incident occurred at 7.12pm after a local man alerted authorities to the break-in, prompting swift action by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) officers.

While 2 suspects were detained during the operation, 1 suspect was injured and died at the scene.

“Initial investigations indicate that the deceased suffered a serious injury to his right arm, possibly caused by a major blood vessel.

“Police are investigating whether the injury was caused by the iron fence or any other object during the break-in or escape attempt,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (November 16).

Supt Nik Mohd Azmi added that the fourth suspect, identified as 39-year-old Mohamad Sahli Talib, was still at large.

“His last known address is in Kampung Belukar Gunong, Bachok, Kelantan and police are actively working to locate him,” he added.

All four suspects, aged between 29 and 48, have criminal and drug-related criminal records.

Urine tests revealed that two detained suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Article 457 of the Criminal Code for the crime of house burglary; If convicted, it could result in up to 14 years in prison and a fine.

Supt Nik Mohd Azmi also shared that the suspect’s death is being treated as a sudden death case and an autopsy is planned to determine the exact cause and nature of the injury.
