Destin High School principal made a statement about the student injured in the accident

DESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Multiple students were reportedly taken to the hospital following a crash in Destin on Friday evening.

Destin High School Principal, one of the students who attended Destin High School on Saturday, made the following statement:

Dear Shark Families:

I would like to share with you an update regarding the traffic accident in Destin last night that sent one of our students to the hospital. Last night I personally visited the student and his father in the hospital and promised him that his favorite foods would hold him over after he recovered from surgery.

The multi-car crash also resulted in students in the South Walton area being hospitalized. I was told that these students were receiving treatment at hospitals in the Gulf Coast area.

This news has negatively impacted our school community, especially students and staff, as false rumors spread rapidly online. Our Shark Counseling team will be on campus on Monday to assist any student or staff member who needs extra support. I will personally coordinate support for the student’s family when necessary.

I ask that you keep our Sharks and Seahawk community, as well as the families affected, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
