“So, Dora, I would like to say that this is a family decision. There are three people in our family: me, my wife, my daughter. It was an issue that was discussed at length.

“I was against the idea of getting a dog at the time for many reasons. As a comedian, I travel a lot, I don’t get around much. I knew it would greatly restrict my wife and daughter’s ability to go out and socialize.

“Even though it wasn’t my decision to get a dog, it would be one of the things I’m blamed for.

“We live in a flat with no immediate access to the outside. So I thought: ‘Well why don’t we leave some? We might consider getting a dog when we move house, and we can get a decent-sized dog.’

“By two months, we have a tiny dog that was specifically researched and purchased for a straight life. He has such great separation anxiety that you can’t get up without him following you around.”

Chris joked that Dora was the smallest, even among the toy poodles, and that they had to get an extra small harness for her injections, which was still too big.
