Woman left her boyfriend to die in a zippered suitcase | US News

The woman who left her lover die in a zippered suitcase He was found guilty of murder.

Sarah Boone was first arrested four years ago following the death of Jorge Torres in Winter Park, Florida.

On Friday, the jury returned its verdict, and previously Boone had pleaded not guilty to murder.

He initially told detectives that he and Torres were playing hide-and-seek at their home on Feb. 23, 2020, and thought it would be funny if Torres got into the bag.

They had been drinking and she decided to go to sleep, thinking that her boyfriend could unpack on his own.

When he woke up the next morning, he couldn’t find Torres, but then he remembered she was in the bag.

She unzipped the suitcase and found him unresponsive.

Boone was charged with murder after finding videos on his phone showing Torres screaming from inside the bag.

He was screaming that he couldn’t breathe and screaming Boone’s name over and over.

He testified that past incidents of violence between himself and Torres caused him to perceive an imminent threat of harm.

He said he acted in self-defense by keeping it in the bag.

‘Yeah, that’s what you do when you choke me,’ Boone said in one of the videos.

‘Oh, that’s how I feel when you cheat on me.’

The autopsy report stated that Torres had scratches on his back and neck, contusions on his shoulder, skull and forehead due to blunt force trauma, and a cut near his burst lip.

Boone has met with multiple attorneys since his arrest, which contributed to the 10-day delay in his trial.

He will be sentenced on December 2 and faces life in prison.
