FRANKLIN FURNACE — A Franklin Furnace man arrested for the murder of a Kentucky man found dead behind the wheel of a bullet-riddled SUV is facing additional charges.

Jacub Tyler Carver, 25, of Franklin Furnace, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder. On Saturday, the Scioto County sheriff announced that Carver was also charged with first-degree felony attempted murder and second-degree felony aggravated assault.

The case began Thursday night around 7:46 p.m., when the Scioto County 911 center received a call about a shooting at 19 Disterdick Lane, Ironton.

When deputies and detectives arrived on scene, they found Ronnie L. Rowe, 24, of South Shore, Kentucky, dead behind the wheel of a Chevy Equinox with multiple bullet holes in it.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said during the investigation, detectives learned that another man was inside the Chevy at the time of the attack.

The man fled on foot, and detectives were able to track him down within minutes of walking on US 52 in the Franklin Quarry area.

Carver was identified as the attacker and taken into custody.

Carver was initially charged with one count of first-degree felony murder.

He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday.

Thoroughman stated that the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted to assist in investigating the scene.

Rowe was sent to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Thoroughman stated that this is still an ongoing investigation and will result in more charges being presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
