New fake certificate cases will be filed with the prosecutor’s office

KUWAIT CITY, November 17: Efforts to combat fake certificates in government institutions are increasing, with a new batch of suspicious cases being referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, according to Al-Qabas.

A government source revealed that the Cabinet has instructed ministries to expedite the submission of reports on fake certificates, which remains the government’s top priority. The instructions include preparing lists of employees with questionable credentials, such as those who failed to submit academic certificates, did not update their data, or provided false information during a recent specified period. The source emphasized the importance of complying with the directives of the Council of Ministers on this issue.

The source confirmed the government’s determination to identify and prosecute certificate counterfeiters, noting that individuals were given sufficient time to present their credentials and equivalence documents. Those who do not comply will face strict penalties and measures.

The source explained that the decision to refer the cases to the Prosecutor’s Office was made only after comprehensive investigations. The files of persons proven to be fraudulent will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for appropriate legal action and penalties.

Additionally, no case will be exempt from review. Certificates of private sector employees will also be examined in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education to verify the authenticity of academic achievements, including attendance and study abroad records.

The source underlined the government’s unwavering support for combating fake certificates, emphasizing that this is a priority alongside other critical issues such as fraud cases in general.

The expected referral of fake certificates to the Prosecutor’s Office follows previous batches as part of the government’s broader efforts to protect public funds, maintain the credibility of the education system and promote justice and integrity.

In a previous series of guidance, former Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Adel Al-Adwani approved the recommendations of the Ministry of Education investigation committee. The committee had detected irregularities in high school certificates issued by some Arab countries and approved by the General Directorate of Special Education. These cases were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, with steps taken to cancel the equivalence certificates and instruct the relevant authorities to correct the problems.
