Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda says guitarist Brad Delson has stopped touring for mental health reasons

Linkin Park‘s Mike Shinoda talked more about the band’s recent line-up changes and how they came together; guitarist Brad Delson’s absence from live shows.

Now Shinoda has offered more insight into why Delson has been staying away from live shows.

“If anyone doesn’t understand the dynamic, Brad is our guitar player. “He’s in the band, but he realized it was kind of a mental health issue,” he said. The Zach Sang Show.

“He doesn’t like the touring and live show lifestyle, so he’s our guitar player but he doesn’t play live. He found a guy named Alex who was amazing, a really good guitar player, and they got along really well, and Brad chose Alex to play their parts live.

“But we hadn’t met Alex at the time so we asked Colin. And I said, ‘Brad needs someone to play guitar, we need a drummer.’ You do both equally well. What would you like to do?’ And he was just like a kid in a candy store. I think he said, ‘I can’t believe you’re asking me right now.’ It was very exciting.”

He continued: “I love working with Colin. I met him at the sessions and then I was bringing him in to help with writing and production. And finally we said, ‘Hey man, looks like we need someone to play drums.’ I know this is his main instrument. And I said, ‘Is this something you want to do? That would mean stepping away from your production career.’”

Shinoda previously announced that the new cast “best culture we have ever had”.

“The dynamic of everyone in the group is very good, especially those of us who have a lot of history together. It’s really good. “To me, this is the best culture we have,” he began. from scratch podcast.

“I’m not saying that to knock the old roster. I’m saying that specifically with the development of Brad, Joe (Hahn), Dave (Farrell) and myself. Everybody’s in a really good place and part of that is maybe just the gratitude of being able to do it again,” he added.

“What is your favorite thing to do in the world and now imagine it being taken away from you. You can’t do this. Gone. And then after living in it for a while, you come back and say, ‘Okay, guess what? ‘You can take it back.’ “It’s such a crazy feeling.”
