Waltair DRM Arrested in Mumbai Allegedly of Corruption

Visakhapatnam: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Visakhapatnam Waltair Division, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25 lakh. The arrest took place in Mumbai on Saturday, where he had gone to collect the illegal payment from a contractor.

According to CBI sources, DRM had demanded bribe in connection with a tender related to the mechanical branch. After his arrest, CBI officials searched DRM’s office in Visakhapatnam and seized a large number of documents as evidence.

This is the second major anti-corruption operation targeting senior railway officials in recent months. In July, the CBI had arrested five senior Indian Railways officials, including Guntakal Railway Division Manager Vineet Singh, over allegations of financial irregularities and administrative corruption within the Guntakal railway division.

The investigation into both the cases is ongoing as part of the CBI’s broader crackdown on corruption within the Indian Railways.
