Police name Harshita Brella as woman found dead in car boot in Ilford

Police have named the woman found dead in the boot of a car in east London as Harshita Brella.

The 24-year-old was first reported missing on November 13 after Northamptonshire Police conducted a welfare check at his home in Skegness Walk, Corby, and received no response.

His body was found inside the vehicle on Brisbane Road in Ilford.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Johnny Campbell, of the East Midlands special operations major crime unit (EMSOU), said on Saturday: “Firstly I would like to extend my sincere condolences to everyone who loved Harshita Brella.

“She was a young woman in her early 20s with her whole life ahead of her and it is absolutely tragic that her life was cut short like this.

“Detectives from EMSOU and Northamptonshire Police are working around the clock to establish the circumstances behind the death, including the exact location and time period of the incident.”

He added: “Although we believe Harshita was attacked by someone she knew, we remain open-minded and would urge anyone who recognizes her to contact us with any relevant information they have.

“If you have seen anything suspicious in the last week or have any information, no matter how small, please contact us. We would always rather receive well-intentioned information that turns out to be nothing than not receive it all.
