School principal arrested on child pornography charges

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – A middle school principal in Texas has been arrested on child pornography charges.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation began after a student received a social media video believed to have been sent by the school’s principal and reported it to authorities.

When investigators confronted the principal, they said they found child pornography on his cell phone.

Hardin Middle School principal Chad Barrett was arrested Thursday and faces felony charges of possessing and promoting child pornography.

The school district said he was removed from school property and placed on administrative leave.
