Ludhiana: Woman alleges rape, blackmail; fugitive defendant

Stagewal police said a “stalker” was arrested for allegedly blackmailing and raping a 19-year-old married woman. The complainant alleged that the accused threatened to kill her husband if she lodged a police complaint against him.

The accused, identified as Dhiraj Kumar of Satguru Nagar, is a fugitive, police said. The complainant said that the defendant had been following him for the last two months. According to him, he recorded a video while taking a bath. She stated that he then started blackmailing her into having physical relations with him.

The woman added that he entered her house when she was alone on October 9 and 12 and raped her. According to the FIR, the accused asked her to remain silent while threatening to kill her husband if she approached the police.

The woman also claimed that the accused had been following her for the last two months. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Surjit Singh, who is investigating the case, stated that an FIR has been lodged against the accused under Section 64 of the BNS. Efforts are continuing to capture him.
