According to reports, 1 person died and many were hospitalized due to an E. coli outbreak linked to carrots.

(Gray News) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a nationwide recall after an E. coli outbreak linked to organic carrots sickened dozens of people and led to one death.

According to the CDC, 39 people have been infected and 15 people hospitalized in 18 states. Authorities said one person died due to the infection.

recalled carrots Grimmway Farms in California. The recall involves multiple sizes and brands of bagged organic baby and whole carrots. These products are probably no longer sold in stores, but you may still have them in your home.

For baby organic carrots:

  • Expiration date ranging from 9/11/2024 to 11/12/2024
  • Brands: 365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Grimmway Farms, Marketside, Nature’s Promise, O-Organic, President’s Choice, Raley’s, Simple Truth, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, Healthy Cellar

For whole organic carrots:

  • Available for purchase in stores from approximately 8/14/2024 through 10/23/2024
  • Bags of organic whole carrots do not have an expiration date on them.
  • Brands: 365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Marketside, Nature’s Promise, O-Organic, President’s Choice, Simple Truth, Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, Healthy Pantry

The CDC says you should not eat any of the recalled carrots, and if you have symptoms of E. coli, contact your healthcare provider and tell your doctor what you ate.
