Attempted robbery in Ernakulam: SIT interrogates suspected Kuruva gang member

Attempted robbery in Ernakulam: SIT interrogates suspected Kuruva gang member

A special investigation team (SIT) led by Munambam DySP, constituted a week ago to investigate attempted thefts similar to the methods of ‘Kuruva gang’ in houses in North Paravur and Vadakkekara, interrogated a suspected Kuruva gang member who was arrested by Alappuzha police. Saturday night (November 16).

Since the incidents occurred on the same night, it is unlikely that the same Kuruva gang members who attempted theft in Alappuzha were involved in the incidents in North Paravur and Vadakkekara. However, the involvement of partners reportedly operating in various parts of Kerala needs to be ascertained.

A pair of men suspected of attempting theft in two suburban areas of Ernakulam may even be local thieves, according to police. This is because Kuruva gang members usually go to great lengths to enter homes. It was learned that the identification efforts of the thieves, who resemble the gang members arrested by the Alappuzha police in terms of appearance and body language, are continuing.

It is learned that residents of North Paravur, who spotted one of the robbers, suspected that he resembled Santhosh Selvam, who was arrested by the police from the swampy area under the Kundannoor bridge late on Saturday night.
