Man arrested after murder in Valley Ford

Acting Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Rob Dillion said the man broke into a home on Carroll Road and killed someone.

A family member of a Sonoma County resident has died after authorities say a man broke into a Valley Ford home and killed them Saturday. Newsletter published on Sunday By Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Adrian Yanez, 44, of Fairfield. He was booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of murder and burglary.

As of Sunday, he was being held without bail and did not have a scheduled court date.

Deputy Rob Dillion, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said Sunday that a gun of an undetermined type was seized Saturday. He did not know where the gun was found.

The slain person’s age, gender and place of residence were not immediately clear Sunday, Dillion said. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Office will release the person’s name once next of kin are notified.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home on Carroll Road after another resident, who was not home at the time, reported that a man was trying to break into the home and was yelling at two relatives at the residence. Authorities said one of the people in the house locked the doors and windows, while the other hid.

Yanez is accused of breaking down the door and killing a family member, Dillion said.

A manager at the Bodega Bay Oyster Company, located just east of the intersection of Valley Ford and Carroll roads where the shooting occurred, said he saw about 15 law enforcement vehicles, including those from the Sheriff’s Office, around 3 p.m. Saturday. California Highway Patrol, pass the business heading toward the intersection.
