In Salem, 2 men and 3 teenagers face riot charges for attack; Weapon seized from young man

SALEM Ore. (KPTV) – Three teenage boys and two men were arrested after another man was attacked early Sunday in Salem, according to the Salem Police Department.

According to police, around 4:30 a.m., an officer noticed five people physically attacking a man near Market Street and Northeast Hawthorne Boulevard. The suspects then got into a car and fled the area.

Police have not released any information about the victim or the injuries he sustained.

A man was arrested Friday in Beaverton for stealing a delivery truck in Milwaukie while an employee was in the truck’s cargo area, according to police.

The suspect car was spotted about 20 minutes later by a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy near Lancaster Drive and Center Street Northeast, police said.

Police said the suspects were pulled over and taken into custody without incident.

Two adults, 20-year-old Horacio Chavez Soto and 19-year-old Manuel Contreras Rivera, both of Salem, were arrested and charged with rioting. Both men were later released, police said.

The three teenage boys, ages 16, 16 and 17, were taken to the Marion County Juvenile Department, where all three face riot charges.

Police said one of the 16-year-old boys had a gun and it was seized. This teenager is also accused of illegally possessing a weapon.
