According to the Sheriff’s Office report, an arrest was made in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl.

A Livingston man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit began investigating 35-year-old Edgar Perez Medina, who allegedly created a fake social media profile pretending to be an 18-year-old male on Nov. 9, the Sheriff’s Office said.

He initiated contact with the minor and arranged to meet him the next day at a location in Southern Stanislaus County, according to a statement posted on Facebook.

According to the statement, Medina met the little boy near his home and ordered him to get into his car. He then went to a secluded orchard and violently sexually assaulted her. Following the attack, Medina transported the child to Turlock and deposited him within city limits.

After receiving the report, SVU detectives identified Medina and discovered that he was a registered sex offender under California Penal Code 290 in Merced County for a 2017 conviction involving a child. Medina is registered for life and her information is publicly available on Megan’s Law.

On Wednesday, SVU detectives arrested Medina in Livingston pursuant to an arrest warrant. The statement also stated that a search warrant was issued at his home and his vehicle was seized as evidence there. Child Sexual Abuse Material was also found in Medina.

He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on five charges: kidnapping with intent to rob, rape, oral copulation or sodomy; communicating with a minor to engage in sexual acts; arranging a meeting with a minor to engage in sexual acts; and possession of child pornography.

Medina appeared in court Friday and is being held on $4.8 million bail. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 209-525-7114.
