OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly stabbing a victim after the victim saw two suspects rummaging through their car and chasing them into a nearby parking lot, according to police.

Christian Becerra, 22, was arrested around midnight Saturday on charges including aggravated assault and trespassing.

Generous girl kidnapping incident ended with police pursuit, suspect arrested

According to the probable cause filed in Weber County, the victim reported that he was stabbed by someone after he saw two people rummaging through his car.

“The victim chased the 2 suspects into a nearby church parking lot, where they attempted to retrieve items they may have taken,” the affidavit states.

The victim said that after chasing the individuals, one of the suspects (later identified as Becerra) turned and stabbed them in the “upper right part” of their chest. The victim’s right lung was punctured during the stabbing, according to documents.

Police teams searched the area close to the incident and located Becerra, who matched the description given by the suspect to the police. Becerra was sweating and out of breath when he was found, documents say.

Becerra reportedly admitted that he “came from the general area where the stabbing occurred.” Officers found drug paraphernalia on his person (including THC cartridges) and arrested him.

After being taken to the police station, Becerra reportedly confessed to breaking into the victim’s vehicle and stabbing him after being chased into the church parking lot.

Becerra reportedly claimed the victim attacked him, but the documents noted “there were no visible injuries that matched his recollection of the events.”

Becerra was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony; charge of possession of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor; one count of criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor; and one count of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

Becerra was booked into the Weber County Jail on the above-mentioned charges.

The accusations are merely allegations. All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
