Hudson Valley’s ‘Best Sandwich’ Shop Is Suddenly Closing Forever

Hudson Valley customers were stunned and saddened to learn their favorite sandwich shop would close in just two days.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for sandwich lovers in the Hudson Valley. A sandwich place that took the top spot in the Battle of the Best in June He announced in June that he was pursuing offers for his business. At the time, the owners promised to stay open “for the long term” until a suitable successor was found.

On Sunday, that message was deleted from the business’s Instagram account, and a new message was suddenly posted announcing the business’s closure, sending shockwaves through the Hudson Valley.

Hudson Valley’s Best Sandwich Maker Suddenly Goes Out of Business

Two years ago, the married team of Adam and Corrinne Sternberg purchased The Hog on West Main Street in the Village of Wappingers Falls. What was once a diner-style breakfast restaurant and coffee shop has been transformed into a gourmet sandwich shop filled with giant cheesesteaks, chicken “sammies,” and impossibly large sandwiches that might be hard to fit in your mouth.

Adam and Corrinne were proud of their sandwiches; They prepared each one to order, managed the kitchen themselves, and did the registering. Due to the short staffing and attention to detail, wait times could be extremely long, and the restaurant would regularly stop taking orders to allow the duo to catch up.

In another since-deleted Instagram message last month, the couple reminded customers that although the business was for sale, they planned to run The Hog until someone was found to take over the business. It’s unclear what’s happened since then, but Adam and Corrine dropped a major bombshell on Sunday by announcing they would be closing up shop this Monday.

The Pig at Wappingers Falls Declares Its Last Day, Pandamonium Begins

Early Sunday, The Hog surprised customers with an Instagram post announcing it would be closing on Monday. The now-deleted message stated that The Hog would not be taken over by anyone else and that the shop would cease to exist with them. The Sternbergs were hopeful that the building, built in 1875, would eventually be filled with new business space.

Just hours after announcing the last two days of service, the business was forced to halt food service after being inundated with customers. At 3 p.m., The Hog said it could no longer serve food and invited customers to try again on Monday, its last day of service before closing for good.

Anyone hoping to get one last Birdie or Jawn should plan to get to The Hog early. The restaurant is planned to open with its last service at noon on Monday, November 18.
