Vancouver weather: Storm brings ‘very windy conditions’ this week

Forecasters expect intense winds to hit B.C.’s South Coast this week during the region’s last fall storm.

Environment and Climate Change Canada said some areas will experience heavy rainfall as the storm moves across Vancouver Island toward the Lower Mainland on Tuesday, but the main concern will be “very windy conditions.”

“Strong winds may knock down trees or cause tree branches to break,” the agency wrote in a special weather statement. “Secure loose outdoor objects.”

Citizens were also warned to be careful about possible power outages. Another storm earlier this month little hurricane This incident on the Sunshine Coast caused more than 230,000 BC Hydro customers to lose power.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada said the storm caused more than $110 million in damage.

Forecasters did not offer a forecast for how fast winds might blow this week but said the most intense conditions would occur Tuesday night.
