71-year-old stabbed to death in Champaign, 67-year-old arrested

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WICS) — A 71-year-old man was stabbed to death in Champaign on Sunday.

At 5:19 p.m., the Champaign Police Department was dispatched to the 2000 Block of Cynthia Drive for a domestic disturbance.

At the scene, they found a 71-year-old Champaign man unresponsive from a potentially life-threatening stab wound in his home.

Officers and staff with the Champaign Fire Department immediately began administering life-saving measures, but unfortunately were unable to resuscitate the man. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation showed the man was involved in a domestic fight with Dewandee Carter, 67, of Champaign, in which he stabbed her in the chest.

For his role in this incident, Carter was arrested while charges were pending.
