Authorities say parachutist fell to his death after parachute failed

CADDO COUNTY, La. (KSLAA man died in a skydiving accident in Louisiana on Saturday after his parachute failed, authorities said.

According to the Caddo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report from Gilliam Airport at 1:25 p.m. about a missing man who was last seen parachuting.

Investigators learned that the parachutist’s parachute did not open.

Several agencies searched for the man and found his body a few hours later. Authorities said they found it several kilometers from its planned landing point.

Further information, including the man’s name, was not available. Authorities are still investigating.
