Child sexual crimes against police officer dropped

A Metropolitan Police officer has been suspended after being accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Jamie Howlett, 33, formerly of Horley, was charged with six counts of sexual assault by touching a child under 13 in July.

Charges against two alleged victims were dismissed because no evidence was presented, Surrey Police said.

He was also charged with nine counts, all against a third adult victim.

These were five counts of rape, one charge of controlling and coercive behavior, one charge of sexual assault by touching, one charge of sexual assault by penetration and one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

His trial will be held in May 2025.

The police officer pleaded not guilty to all nine charges.
