Taylor County deputies ‘involved’ in traffic stop and shooting; Details ‘hidden’ during FDLE investigation

PERRY, Fla. (WCTV) – Taylor County deputies were ‘involved’ in what turned into a shootout at a traffic stop Sunday night, according to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office has released little information about the shooting so far. TCSO said in a Facebook post that the incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. The post did not say who fired the shots, where the shooting took place, or whether anyone was injured.

“Further details, including the identities of those involved, are being withheld at this time to ensure the integrity of the ongoing investigation,” TCSO said.

According to TCSO, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently handling the investigation. The sheriff’s office said it is “fully cooperating” with the FDLE.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available, according to TCSO.
