Murder charge dismissed for suspect arrested in connection with shooting death of Sonic manager, records show

A murder charge has been dismissed against a suspect arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Sonic Drive-In manager, according to Bexar County court records.

Joshua Albert Joseph was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the Aug. 16 shooting death of Daniel Shrewsbury, San Antonio police said.

But records show Joseph dropped the murder charge on Nov. 12 because the shooting remained under investigation.

Joseph and two women, including Adiah Namir Roberson, went to the Sonic in the 5500 block of Babcock Road on July 7 and ordered food.

Police said the trio entered the restaurant and tried to pay for the meal with fake money. Manager Shrewsbury noticed the money and told them about it.

Police said the trio paid for the meal with real money but took some money from a glass before leaving.

Police said Shrewsbury followed them to their vehicle and took a photo of the license plate.

That’s when Joseph, who was driving, got angry and argued with Shrewsbury. Moments later, Joseph told Shrewsbury he was going to be shot, police said.

A short time later, Roberson got out of the car and shot and killed Shrewsbury, according to police.

On the run for more than three months, U.S. Marshals arrested Roberson at a Dallas apartment complex on Oct. 25, authorities said.
