Woman accused of sending email threatening mass attack at Metro Christian Academy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A woman is facing charges after allegedly sending an email threatening a mass shooting at Metro Christian Academy in late October, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

MNPD reported that 27-year-old Yaa-Adriel Poku was charged for allegedly making threats of mass violence after multiple employees at the school received an email threatening a mass shooting on Oct. 27.

According to MNPD, classes were canceled the next day. Poku then sent a message to the Goodlettsville Police Department attempting to blame her ex-husband for the threatening emails.

Poku’s ex-husband retains full custody of their 4-year-old child, according to MNPD. The emails were a clear ploy to regain custody of the child.

“Poku, who lives in Seattle, arrived in Nashville today and was arrested at Nashville International Airport,” MNPD said. “Poku faces additional charges related to the child custody matter.”

The department added that threats to schools, special events and businesses are taken seriously by MNPD.

“Once identified, those responsible will be prosecuted. MNPD said its Special Investigations Division is conducting this investigation in cooperation with Goodlettsville and Hendersonville Police.
