Butts County man arrested for allegedly attacking deputies with a machete

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Butts County man was arrested for allegedly attacking deputies with a machete, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Courtney Deonta Reeves, 30, of Jenkinsburg, was booked into Butts County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault on law enforcement.

The GBI said they arrested Reeves after the Butts County Sheriff’s Office asked the agency to investigate a felonious assault on two deputies Monday morning.

Around 9:20 a.m., Butts County deputies went to a home on County Line Road to serve an eviction notice on Reeves.

The GBI alleges Reeves grabbed a machete and began attacking deputies.

Two MPs were injured and taken to hospital. The condition of both MPs is stable and they are expected to be released.

The GBI said they will conduct an independent investigation and turn the case file over to the Towaliga Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
