Android users already use Google’s Digital Wellbeing app to reduce these habits. Now it looks like this tool is getting an upgrade that will help even more. A new update makes it even easier by gently reminding you with a notification when you’re spending too much time on certain apps, without completely locking you out.

Originally called “Aware Nudge” This feature was noticed last monthbut Google appears to have made some adjustments since then. According to a recent X post by Mishaal Rahman, the feature is now available under the name “Screen Time Reminders.” When you turn this feature on, these reminders appear as lightweight, pill-shaped notifications at the top of your screen when you reach your set time limit on certain apps.

A new way to nudge you to use your time better

The notification will show the total time you spent on an app and give you a hint to complete the app and make better use of your day. Launched in 2018, Google’s Digital Wellbeing app is designed to help users Create a healthier balance with your devices. It tracks your app usage and gives you a daily summary of how much time you spent in your app. android phoneand even lets you set limits for individual apps to keep things under control.

9to5Google notes that these reminders are off by default and will appear even if you haven’t set app time limits. These reminders are classified as “occasional”; so you can’t adjust how often they appear. However, you can choose to turn them off for certain apps if you want.

To turn on this feature, go to your devices Digital Wellbeing and Parental Control settings. From there find: Screen Time Reminders select and turn Use Reminders switch. This allows you to set reminders for specific apps to help you cut down on screen time.

This new feature is a solid upgrade to Digital Wellbeing because it makes you more aware of how much time you spend on your phone without harsh restrictions.
