Guwahati, Oct 27 (PTI) At a time when mobile internet services were suspended across the state for over seven hours, the Assam government’s order IV. A written exam to fill class positions is held on Sunday.

Mobile internet services were disrupted from 8.30am to 4pm across the state for the third time in two months.

An order issued on Friday said mobile internet, Wi-Fi and mobile data services were suspended “for the purpose of ensuring a free, fair and transparent written review, as well as to prevent any law and order problems related to public safety.”

It was stated that voice calls and broadband connection based on landline telephone lines will continue to be functional during this period.

Any violation of the notification will be punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 as well as the relevant provision of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, the order added.

Official sources said the competitive examination under the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) was conducted in two shifts in 28 districts.

The recruitment campaign is aimed at filling a total of 5,023 positions.

A total of 8,27,130 candidates are expected to appear in the recruitment exam, which is being held in the first shift from 9 am to 11.30 pm at 1,484 centers for HSLC level positions.

A total of 5,52,002 candidates applied to take the exam for the posts with minimum Grade 8 qualifications in the second shift from 13.30 to 16.00 at 808 centres.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his best wishes to the candidates in a post published on X on Saturday evening.

ADRE 2024 sets “standards of transparency and fairness and an example for all to emulate,” the CM added.

Strict security measures were taken at the exam centres.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) operates five pairs of exam special trains to facilitate candidates to appear for the tests, an NFR statement said.

In the statement, it was stated that these trains will be operated for one trip in both directions.
