Patna, Nov 19 (PTI) Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday approved CM Nitish Kumar to allocate Rs 225 million for ‘Mahila Samwad’, an ambitious program under which ministers and senior officials will visit districts to inform women about ongoing policies in the state to strengthen his government.

Sources on condition of anonymity said the interaction program will be held at the district and block level with the prime minister and he is likely to attend some of them, while his cabinet colleagues and senior officials will participate in other places.

The Cabinet meeting chaired by the CM on Tuesday approved the allocation of Rs 225.78 billion for ‘Mahila Sambad’.

According to information provided by the state government’s Cabinet Secretariat department, “A proposal in this regard has been discussed by the Rural Development Department of the state government. During the program, women in rural areas will be informed about the government’s policies for women’s empowerment. “Within the scope of the dialogue program, studies will be carried out to learn women’s expectations and requests from the government,” he said. The ambitious program is expected to be launched from next month. Officials said that the government will soon issue a circular on this issue.

Women constitute about 48 percent of Bihar’s total voters.

The Bihar cabinet has also decided to increase the ex-gratia amount from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 21 lakh for army relatives and central armed police forces personnel from Bihar who are martyred in different operations or war-like situations.

“The state government will pay 21 lakh rupees ex-gratia to the relatives of soldiers and officers from Bihar who were martyred in different operations or war-like situations.
