City man charged with felony burglary, vehicle theft | News, Sports, Jobs

A city man was arrested last Friday after allegedly stealing a vehicle and rummaging through an unlocked home in the 1500 block of Crawford Avenue.

Dan Emmanuel M. Diomande, 27, faces charges of burglary, breaking and entering, misdemeanor theft, and summary counts of driving without a license.

Unable to post $200,000 bail, he was sent to Blair County Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 27 before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Dunio.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Diomande exited the Chestnut Avenue Sheetz into a 2010 white Dodge Journey and was seen on video surveillance driving south on Seventh Avenue toward First Avenue. The affidavit states Diomande’s driver’s license has expired.

The victims immediately reported the vehicle as stolen, and it was later found parked in the 1500 block of First Avenue, according to the affidavit, which states Diomande walked to the front door of an unlocked residence, entered the home and “searched” two doors. Before entering the bedroom owner’s bedroom, he was confronted and told to leave the property.

According to court records, Diomande left the house after buying a pack of cigarettes. He returned a few minutes later and met the owner at the front door again.

The report states that Diomande then walked to the back of the house and confronted the homeowner’s daughter, who took photos of Diomande and then called the police.

At the scene, Altoona police spotted the stolen Dodge Journey and found Diomande holding a pack of cigarettes in the 1500 block of First Avenue. In the affidavit, police confirmed that the person seen in the photographs was Diomande.
