Priest is in prison for ‘rape’

The leader of Delft Spiritual Crime Prevention appeared in court for the kidnapping and rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Pastor Ebrahiem Sardien was arrested on Saturday after Meisie reported the incident to the police.

An anonymous community member explained that the defendant went to pick up the girl from her home that morning.

“Pastor Hiema, or Ebie as she is known, usually brings the girl every Saturday for praise and worship lessons of about 2 to 3 hours.

“The victim and his sister were supposed to go together, but his sister could not go.

“The defendant then went to another priest’s house in The Hague to speak to the priest. He said the route would have to change from now on and he would have to do something in Goodwood, so he said he wasn’t familiar with the area.

“They came to a house with rented rooms and a woman gave the key to the priest. The girl said Hiema gave her the key and asked her to charge her phone in the room.”

The resident said the priest claimed he followed the teenager into the room.

“He came in and threw her against the door and ended up raping her on the floor. He did all kinds of things to her because she was still bleeding profusely.

“An hour later he dropped her off at home and sped away, he usually talked to his mother but he didn’t.

“The girl was crying and when her mother asked what had happened, she lifted her dress and asked why this was happening to her.

“They then went to the police station and that’s when he was arrested.”

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk says: “A 39-year-old suspect was arrested and charged on Sunday. He appeared in the Bellville Magistrates Court on that charge.”

The defendant will apply for bail on November 25.
