Russia arrests German citizen on sabotage charges — reports – DW – 20.11.2024

A German citizen was arrested in Russia on Wednesday on sabotage charges, according to Russian state news agencies.

State media reported that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a German citizen allegedly involved in an explosion at a gas distribution station in Kaliningrad in March 2024.

The 57-year-old German was also accused of carrying out “acts of sabotage against the local energy infrastructure,” according to a statement from the FSB reported by Russian news agencies.

The man, who reportedly lives in Hamburg, was detained at the Kaliningrad border. According to reports in Russian state media, a search of his car revealed half a liter of explosives.
