High Point man sentenced to prison after sex crime conviction

DAVIDSON COUNTY — A High Point man was convicted of a reduced sexual offense in a case involving a child under 13 and sentenced to 13 to 20 years in prison, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Avery Nickolas Rabon, 24, of Crosswinds Drive, pleaded guilty Monday in Davidson County Superior Court to one count of attempted statutory rape. He was charged with first-degree statutory rape, first-degree statutory sexual offense and providing indecent liberties with a minor.

Davidson County Sheriff’s Office officers began an investigation into sexual abuse of a child under the age of 13 in October 2022. Following a forensic interview of the child at Dragonfly House in Mocksville, Rabon was identified as the suspect and arrested in July 2023. said the office.

Rabon was sentenced to 157 to 249 months in prison. He will also be required to register with the National Sex Offender Registry for 30 years.
