BREAKING NEWS Osun government confirms arrest of head of Police Anti-Kidnap Squad

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has disclosed that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Head of Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad in the state, Moses Lohor and his team for attempted murder.

This was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the Governor of Osun State on Security, Samuel Ojo, in a statement by Olawale Rasheed, spokesman for Governor Adeleke, following a closed-door meeting with the Governor and the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba.

DAILY POST recalled that the crisis erupted after operatives of the Osun State Police Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad, led by Moses Lohor, allegedly shot the Head of Osun State Transport Management System, Wakeel Nurudeen Iyanda Alowonle, on Monday night.

Police claimed he was shot after he reportedly tried to evade arrest after a gun and ammunition were found in his car.

Meanwhile, the state government in a statement on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Disclosure, Kolapo Alimi, claimed that the shooting of Alowonle was a suspected case of murder.

In the statement made on Wednesday, “Moses Lohor shot Alowonle in the stomach at the police station after he was arrested for a domestic fight with a neighbor. The park president is currently on life support at the Intensive Care Unit of the Osun State Teaching Hospital in Osogbo.

Ojo explained that police officials viewed Musa’s behavior as unprofessional, illegal, unauthorized and against operational rules.

He also noted that Musa and his men moved to Abuja this morning.

“We can confirm that police officials at the highest levels have acted decisively in this matter. A clear punitive directive was issued by the IG. Our esteemed Governor instructed us to follow up to ensure justice is served.”
